Who needs Farmers anyways? Bush threatens to veto aid to Farmers

Hey, Farmers just get in the way of Strip Malls and Oil fields anyways don't they? Besides, malls create more spending (good for the economy) and Oil wells generate fuel (GREAT for the war).

Ah, Once again... The King believes that if someone is trying to help a segment of American society, they are actually doing a bad thing, and the end result will be to costly in terms of dollars. As we all know... our President knows best and is only looking out for his own wallet/war. Oops ! scratch that, we meant "looking out for the people's own good".

Apparently, a bill passed in the senate allows for monies to be provided to farmers that grow various grain crops as well as money to fruit and vegatable growers. It also allows funds to energy and conservation prorgams that will protect certian farmland areas.

The President believes that subsidies should instead be CUT because crop prices have been at record high prices. Ok, so the President is saying that Farmers made a killing since prices are so high and they don't deserve any money because of that. Now that idea might wash if you had somewhere between 2 and 6 brain cells that were subjected to heat to get them stirring. But we are assuming that all but one American has a brain full of working cells.

Does George not recall the record drought this past year and the record high temperatures that killed off most of the crops? (and that Global warming crap is just more scientific BS from a bunch of Godless Liberals)

Does he not remember certian States comming to the Government and asking to have their farm lands declared "a disaster" ? Of course He doesn't...you have to have somewhere between 7 and 10 brain cells to do that.

Does he not understand that when most of this nation's food supplies are killed in the field that prices most certianly will go up? Bet if that was some of his family owned oil wells George could figure out the math.

The question was also naturally asked how to come up with the money for this program. Democrats suggested increasing taxes on certian multinational companies. The Republicans apparently nixed that idea as a tax hike. Now why would the Republicans be against increasing taxes on hugely wealthy companies?

The Cutting Point: We have to eat to live. Farmers grow food. We need farmland and Farmers.

Well. You'd think he'd want to encourage growing grain for alternative fuels...oh, wait, he has his paws in monies from all the oil...silly me.

There was a pretty involved write up in The Economist about the prices of food rising in general...guess Bush missed that tidbit of info.

Hey, he vetoed the child health care bill, also...so, his veto of the farm aid wouldn't suprise me in the least.

I don't think Bush is the only one to blame(see Time magazine article ~2 months ago). We have to remember how much rural farmers are getting paid to grow. Farm aid bill is mush mash, we don't need any more dead farmers getting upwards of 100K a year.
I think we can blame big businesses for this, but this is something we can fix ourselves. People have to vote for politicans that aren't supported by or have connections to big business.

King George rarely gets the more subtler messages such as your last line "We got to eat..." This type of actions on his part does not surprise me at all.

Good post!
